Our current events happen here:


If you have happy memories of Trigonos or any other training centre that you have attended with CMRP Bangor and you would like to build more, we would love to see you at a FoB (Friends of Bangor) event.  Likewise, if you are interested in learning more about becoming a member, attending one of the events as a non-member is a great opportunity to see what this community is all about.

FoB Connection Event – Mill Hill, London NW7 – 7 September 2018

Our Mill Hill, London FoB Connection Event is going to be held at

Trinity Church, 100 The Broadway, Mill Hill, London NW7 3TB

Event times:  10am – 1pm
Members: £10; non-members £20.

Host:  Hagen Rampes

Facilitator:  Gill Johnson

Hagen Rampes is a Consultant Psychiatrist and MBCT teacher.  He is based in North West London.

 

Gill Johnson is a mindfulness teacher and events coordinator for Friends of Bangor.

The FoB Connection Event is an opportunity for formal practice, reflection, connecting with your local mindfulness network and building links with CMRP and Bangor University.

This event is offered in the same spirit as all mindfulness-based approaches with the intention to co-create our time together. We offer a forum for personal practice, reflection and a chance to communicate your thoughts on current movements within the field to each other and CMRP.  We look forward to welcoming you in this endeavour.

This event is open to non-Friends of Bangor members who want to connect and find out more about Friends of Bangor.  Lunch is not included (tea/coffee will be provided).

FoB Connection Event – Brighton – 28 September 2018

Our Brighton FoB Connection Event is going to be held at

The Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton BN1 1YD

Event times:  10am – 1pm

Cost:  Members: £10; non-members £20.

Host:  Jiva Masheder

Jiva has been practicing mindfulness since 1997, and embarked on the journey to becoming a mindfulness teacher in 2007. She completed 4 teaching modules at Bangor University Masters programme before switching to Exeter to write her MSc thesis on home practice under Willem Kuyken, completing in 2014. http://cedar.exeter.ac.uk/media/universityofexeter/schoolofpsychology/cedar/documents/Thesis-JM.pdf

She has been teaching 8-week courses to the general public since 2009 in Brighton and London and has also worked for studies such as the MYRIAD project run by Oxford Mindfulness Centre. She supervises trainees on the Exeter Masters programme and since 2016 has been a supervisor with Mindfulness Network https://www.mindfulness-supervision.org.uk/jiva-masheder/. She also mentors on the Bangor Teacher Training Pathway.

FoB Specialist Day with Ciaran Saunders – 12 October 2018

Our first FoB Masterclass (“Deepening our Mindfulness Practice”) in March 2018 was a tremendous success and we are happy to be able to announce that Ciaran has offered to run a similar day in the autumn.

Venue: 24 Greencoat Place, London.

Time: 10:30 – 17:00

Cost: £20 members; £40 non-members + donations

Facilitator: Ciaran Saunders

Gill Johnson will support this event.  If there are any areas that you would particularly like to cover during the day, please email Gill via info@friendsofbangor.org

This Day will be another opportunity to “Deepen our Mindfulness Practice” with the gentle guidance of Ciaran Saunders.  The event is offered in the same spirit as all mindfulness-based approaches with the intention to co-create our time together.  We offer a forum for personal formal practice, reflection and a chance to investigate themes that are current for you in your mindfulness practice/teaching.  We hope that this time will also allow you to connect with others from your local mindfulness network and build links with CMRP and Bangor University.  We look forward to re-connecting with old friends and welcoming new ones.

This event is open to non-Friends of Bangor members who are interested in coming along to connect and to find out more about us.  Lunch is not included (but tea/coffee will be provided).  Please feel free to bring a packed lunch if you would like to.

Following the March 2018 day, a number of attendees told us that they would have appreciated the opportunity to make a donation to Friends of Bangor to show their appreciation for Ciaran and Gill (who facilitate this day on a voluntary basis).  We are please to be able to let you know that you will soon be able to make donations here:  DONATE NOW (under construction).

FoB Annual Gathering (AGM) 2019

A two day event weekend with a Saturday Yoga day led by Helen Stephenson, AGM on Sunday morning and a connection event on Sunday afternoon with Rebecca Crane.

Location is The Oblat Centre, Crewe

Date: Weekend 27th – 28th April 2019.

Host:  Helen Stephenson and Rebecca Crane

The yoga Saturday will be led by Helen Stephenson, who has spent a life time dedicated to the practice and study of yoga, Pilates, mindfulness, meditation and counselling.

The Sunday Connection event will be led by Rebecca Crane

The AGM is your opportunity to make your voice heard, participate in FoB activities, and connect with each other and the FoB community.  We look forward to meeting you and sharing your ideas.

Algarve Connection Silent Mindfulness and Yoga Retreat – 25th October – 1st November 2019

Our first Yoga and Mindfulness silent retreat to be held in the Autumn of 2019.

 Location is Quinta Mimosa, Algarve, Portugal

Date: Saturday 25th October to Saturday 1st November 2019.

Host:  Helen Stephenson and Per Norrgren

The yoga part of the retreat will be led by Helen Stephenson, who has spent a life time dedicated to the practice and study of yoga, Pilates, mindfulness, meditation and counselling.

The intention is for the mindfulness part of the retreat to be peer facilitated, led by Per Norrgren.

The format will be a combination of FoB connection event, Silent retreat, and Yoga retreat;

  • We will have yoga in the morning and late afternoon each day.
  • After lunch on the non-silent days there is opportunity for mindfulness practice, sharing, group work, peer/buddy work and learning sets, all as per the requirements of the participants.
  • On the silent days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) there will be standard mindfulness practice of mixed sitting and walking practice, allowing time for connecting deeper with our practice.
