Portugal Yoga and Mindfulness Retreat October 2019

October 25th – November 1st 2019

*** UPDATE  24/11 2019 – Change of location/venue ***

We were unable to meet the requirement for a non-refundable deposit requested by the intended venue in the Algarve and have had to switch location.  We have a new venue for our retreat, located 20 minutes from Porto airport in the north of Portugal.
Porto has good flight connections to the UK and the venue is very price competitive.

============

We are very pleased to announce our intention to have a week-long silent mindfulness and yoga retreat in the Portugal in 2019 for our members.

The dates are Friday 25th October 2019 to Friday 1st November 2019.

Pencil the date into your diary and book your space now!

The venue is beautiful Casa Espiritualidade Paula Frassinetti (25mins from Porto airport).

It is set in the town of Gaia which is on the south side of the river to Porto.

The center has the ability to host up to 20 guests in single accommodation, so places are limited.  17 rooms  have on-suite bathrooms and the rest have bathrooms shared with one other bathroom in a duo-style configuration.

*NOTE:  The accommodation is on the first and second floor of the building and it does not have a lift.  Thus it is unsuitable for a person with limited mobility and difficulty with stairs.

It is perhaps worth noticing that all the the sisters that now manage this part of the convent, all attend a minimum of a 10 day silent retreat every year and all of them have attended at least one 30 day silent retreat as part of their comittment to their practice. (I, for one, felt very humble to be looked after so wonderfully by them on a recent retreat – Per Norrgren)

For this retreat, the mindful movement / yoga will be led by lovely Helen Stephenson, who has spent a life time dedicated to the practice and study of yoga, pilates, mindfulness, meditation and counselling.

Helen has been teaching yoga at Gaia House for over ten years and is also a level 3 mindfulness teacher and is qualified as a trainer of mindfulness teachers.

The silent days of the retreat will be led by Per Norrgren, Chair of the Friends of Bangor CMRP Alumni Group.

The Saturday and Thursday of the retreat are hosted by Per Norrgren, and the intention is for these days to be peer facilitated.

We recognise that the retreat format can feel a little intense and perhaps might feel a little challenging; this is to encourage the participants to allow themselves to explore deeper in to their practices in a supported and caring environment.

The format will be a combination of FoB connection event, Silent retreat, and Yoga retreat;

  • We will have yoga/mindful movement in the morning and late afternoon each day led by Helen Stephenson.
  • After brunch on the non-silent days, there will be opportunities for mindfulness practice, sharing, group work, peer/buddy work and learning sets, as required by participants.  Perhaps exploring different aspects of the MBI-TAC and TTP and how I work with this.
  • On the silent days (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday), formal sitting mindfulness meditation will be alternated with walking practice, allowing for connecting deeper with our being and practice. Led by Per Norrgren.
